Svema FN64 is a panchromatic ISO 64 B&W film from Astrum Ltd (Shostka, Ukraine), successor to the Svema brand founded in 1931. A slow film with fine grain, balanced contrast, and the slightly soft look characteristic of Ukrainian emulsions. Polyester base — dimensionally very stable for scanning. Compatible with standard B&W developers.

Svema (Svetochustvitelnye Materialy — 'photosensitive materials') was one of the major Soviet film plants, founded in 1931 in Shostka. After the USSR's collapse, the plant survived as Astrum Ltd and continues to produce film. FN64 is their standard slow film — a survivor of the Soviet era carrying on a unique Eastern European photographic tradition.
