Adox HR-50
ISO 50 N&B ultra-fine intermediate
~8–11 €
A super-panchromatic ISO 50 B&W film — ultra-fine grain, resolution up to 280 lines/mm. Adox's SPEED BOOST technology brings a technical emulsion up to a usable everyday ISO 50. IR sensitivity to 770nm (peak at 740nm). No DX coding. Available in 35mm and 120.
Atouts
+ Ultra-fine grain — high resolution
+ IR sensitivity to 750nm — infrared effects
+ Strong contrast — landscapes and architecture
+ Likely the base for the Leica Monopan 50
Limites
− ISO 50 — bright light needed
− No DX coding
Adox HR-50 is very likely the emulsion behind the Leica Monopan 50 (2025) — the spectral curves, development times, and chemical properties are nearly identical. Adox makes this film in Bad Saarow, Germany, on the same equipment. 'HR' stands for High Resolution.
