Fuji's professional slide film designed specifically for portraits — where Velvia was too saturated. Extraordinarily soft, natural skin tones, moderate saturation, very fine grain. It occupied exactly the niche Ektachrome covered at Kodak. Its discontinuation left a real gap for portrait slide film.

Astia 100F was the slide film Fujifilm recommended for fashion and portrait studios that needed accurate skin tones without Velvia's excessive saturation. Its discontinuation in 2013 left a gap that Provia 100F only partly fills.
