KONO! Monolit 400
ISO 400 N&B medium all levels
~12–15 €
The KONO! Monolit 400 is a panchromatic ISO 400 B&W film from KONO!, based on Svema/Astrum (Ukraine) stock. Moderate, expressive grain, moderate contrast, a wide tonal range with a characteristic slight fog. The high-speed film in the Monolit line. 24 exposures.
Atouts
+ Atmospheric expressive grain — a unique Soviet aesthetic
+ ISO 400 — versatile in low light
Limites
− Only 24 exposures
− High price compared to HP5 Plus or Tri-X
The Monolit 400 completes the line with the highest speed. Developed with Astrum Ltd (Svema's Ukrainian successor), it offers the expressive grain of Ukrainian emulsions at high speed — rougher than an Ilford HP5 or Kodak Tri-X, for a more atmospheric, less 'clean' look. A deliberate choice of character over pure technique.
