Ilford FP4 Plus 125

ISO 125 N&B fine beginner
~8–10 €
Ilford FP4 Plus 125 is identical to the Ilford FP4 Plus — a panchromatic ISO 125 B&W film from Harman Technology. Very fine grain, excellent acutance, a long tonal range with remarkably smooth transitions, especially in the highlights. Exposable from ISO 64 to ISO 400 depending on development. The '125' on some packaging refers to the nominal sensitivity — the standard FP4 Plus film is sometimes labeled this way depending on the market.
Atouts
+ Very fine grain — excellent for large prints
+ Very extended tonal range — smooth highlight transitions
+ Exposable from ISO 64 to ISO 400
+ Available in 35mm, 120, sheet film, and bulk rolls
+ Exceptional results with Rodinal 1+100 stand development
Limites
ISO 125 — limited in low light or with fast-moving subjects
FP4 is one of the oldest films still in production — its lineage traces back to the 1960s. Reformulated as FP4 Plus in 1990, it keeps its classic DNA while benefiting from improvements in grain and stability. In Rodinal 1+100 stand development (60 minutes), it reveals remarkable microcontrast and grain fineness that are hard to achieve any other way in 35mm.
