A fast cubic-grain B&W film — the most visible grain in the range (RMS 17), but expressive and vintage. Extended sensitivity deep into the near-IR. High contrast, deep shadows, rich blacks. Best exposed at ISO 320 or 250. ISO 200–1600 latitude.

The Fomapan 400 has an extended spectral sensitivity that reaches even further into the near-IR than the 100 and 200 — which changes how colors translate to grey tones. Practitioners of Rodinal 1:100 semi-stand development are particularly fond of it.
