Atouts
+ A unique soft, retro look — rich midtones
+ ISO 320 — a rare speed
+ Wide latitude EI 160–1250
+ Available in 35mm, 120, and sheet film
+ A dedicated Retro Special developer available
Limites
− Moderate contrast — not for punchy images
− Grain more visible than advertised without the dedicated developer
− Availability varies
Retropan 320 is Foma's most unusual film — a rare ISO 320 speed (the only other B&W film at 320 is Kodak Tri-X sheet film) and a deliberately soft, retro look. Foma even developed a dedicated developer, the Retro Special Developer, to amplify the vintage look. The emulsion is particularly well suited to contact prints and retro-style enlargements.
