Harman Phoenix II 200
ISO 200 color medium all levels
~15–19 €
Harman Phoenix II 200 is an ISO 200 color negative film from Harman Technology (Ilford group, Cheshire, UK) — the first color negative film Harman has produced since their founding in 1879. Vivid, slightly unpredictable colors, pronounced grain with noticeable halation around light sources. Standard C-41 compatible. Phoenix II is the improved version of the original Phoenix, with slightly better quality control.
Atouts
+ The first color film made by Harman/Ilford in over a century
+ A unique expressive character — halation, grain, and unpredictable colors
+ Version II — improved quality control vs. the original Phoenix
Limites
− Very pronounced grain — not well suited to flattering portraits
− Unpredictable colors — results vary by batch
− High price for its characteristics
Harman Technology launched the Phoenix in 2023 as a technological challenge — the company had produced only B&W film for over a century. The original Phoenix was deliberately imperfect: massive grain, pronounced red halation, unpredictable colors. Following community feedback, Phoenix II (2024) improves quality control while keeping the expressive character. An experimental film that fully owns its 'flaws' as qualities.
