CineStill 50D is an ISO 50 color cinema film based on Kodak Vision3 50D (5203), respooled by CineStill Film (Los Angeles) with the remjet removed. Standard C-41 compatible. Ultra-fine grain, natural daylight colors, characteristic halation around highlights caused by the absence of an anti-halation layer. The C-41 alternative to Velvia for landscape photographers.

Limites
− High price
− ISO 50 — needs plenty of light
− Halation can be distracting depending on the subject
CineStill Film was founded in 2012 by brothers Brian and Brandon Wright with a simple idea: strip the remjet from Kodak Vision3 cinema stocks to make them compatible with standard C-41 development. The 50D was their first film — based on Vision3 50D, used in Hollywood productions requiring ultra-fine grain (commercials, prestige films). Its reddish halation around light sources, caused by the missing anti-halo layer, has become a highly sought-after aesthetic signature.
