A color film rewound backward: light hits the red layer first, producing dominant reds, oranges, yellows, and golds. ISO controls the intensity — at ISO 200, reds and oranges are very intense; at ISO 50, tones are softer with blues and greens. Grey skies turn into oceans of orange. Standard C-41. Available in 35mm and 120.

The redscale technique involves rewinding a color film backward inside its cartridge. Redscale XR is the industrialized version of a hack film hobbyists have practiced since the 1980s. The XR suffix (Extended Range) refers to its extended 50-200 ISO range — an improvement over earlier fixed-ISO versions.
